A medical tool that enters the skin, that is, a subcutaneous needle. It is also a hollow pipe-like needle with a sharp end. The tips of all hypodermic needles have different slopes. In the same way, their thickness, diameter and length vary.

A hypodermic needle is used for rapid delivery of fluids, or in cases where injected substances are not absorbed ( as in insulin), or when they cannot be taken because they will damage the liver . It is also useful in cases where some medications that cannot be administered orally due to vomiting need to be given. Hypodermic needle also plays an important role in research environments where sterile conditions are required. The hypodermic needle significantly reduces contamination during vaccination of a sterile substrate .

The hypodermic needle reduces contamination for two reasons: First, the surface is extremely smooth, then transferred to the environment as contaminants and pathogens in the air with this which prevents the blade from jamming between the irregularities on the surface of the needle ; second, the needle’s surface is extremely sharp, and this significantly decreases the diameter of the hole remaining after perforation of the membrane, and as a result avoids the contamination of microbes larger than this hole of the bottom layer.

Needles are normally made from a stainless steel material. The needle tip has both a beveled and needle-sharp pointed tip. In this case, it makes it easy to penetrate the skin.

Hypodermic Needle Measurements

Six hypodermic needle sizes are available. These needles are normally used in conjunction with other medical equipment, such as syringes; complete order of hypodermic needle sizes:

26G x 1/2 “(0.45 x 12 mm) (Brown)
25G x 5/8 ” (0.5 x 16mm) (Orange)
22G x 1 1 ⁄ 4 ” (0.7 × 30 mm) (black)
21G x 1 1 ⁄ 2 ” (0.8 × 40 mm) (Yesil)
20G x 1 1 ⁄ 2 ” (0.9 × 40 mm) (yellow)
19G x 1 1 ⁄ 2 ” (1.1 × 40 mm) (cream)

The thickness measurements of needles in common medical use, i.e. gauge measurements, range from 7 gauge (the largest) to 33 (the smallest) decks. 21-gauge needles are the most commonly used needles.
These needles are used to take blood for testing purposes, and 16 – gauge or 17 – gauge needles are most commonly used for blood donation, so that more blood can be collected in less time. Disposable needles are much more common in medicine, although reusable needles continue to be useful for some scientific applications. Disposable needles are embedded in a plastic or aluminum hub that is connected by pressing through or rotating through the syringe chamber.

Those who use hypodermic needles

Usually medical professionals ( dentists , flebotomist , doctors , pharmacists , nurses , paramedics ) is used by, but sometimes they are used by the patients themselves. The most common and common example of this condition is the use of a type of diabetic who may require several insulin injections per day. Hypodermic needle use is also seen in patients with asthma or other severe allergies .
